Oh my...I knew it had been awhile, but almost two months is worse than I thought. Facebook is just so easy that I tend to forget about the old blog.
So what's happened in the last couple months? I guess I should start with my vacation to St. James/Southport, NC. To sum it up...I loved it. Beautiful area, beautiful weather, and welcoming community. After my visit, I think I may be even more excited about their wedding than Phill and Courtney...mostly because their wedding requires little prep work on my part.
Since that vacation, I've spent a month in Dallas, went home for two weeks, and now I'm in Fort Lauderdale. Dallas was fun. Thanks in large part to Margie, a friend and coworker who had her car for part of our stay, I had the opportunity to see a lot. I took a lot of pictures, but unfortunately my personal laptop is comatose and my work laptop will not allow me to load pics. I'll have a lot of catching up to do once I organize them on Katie's desktop and/or finally get around to buying a new laptop.
After Dallas and before Fort Lauderdale, I worked at home for a couple weeks. I chose not to take vacation so I could get my certifications up to date and also because I already have requested a week off in August plus another week in October. So I was busy with work except for one weekend which was spent mostly attending Amy Valek's bachlorette party. We had a good time at her sister's in Lakeville then made the trip down to Mankato.
I chose to put off packing for Fort Lauderdale til about 4:00 AM just 6 hours before my flight. In hindsight that may have been a mistake because it caused me to forget a few vital items. Most importantly my SWIMSUIT! I can't believe I remember to bring it for deployments to Colorado in the winter and forget it when I'm staying five miles from the beach. Luckily I have a nice roommate who I'm sure will mail it to me if she can find it in my mess of a room. It was recently struck by a F5 tornado and is still in the recovery process.
I think that's all for now. I'll be back in Minnesota on August 21st. Keep in touch!

Hi Tracie
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog and trying to figure out what you do. What is a Lead Transportation Specialist? It seems like you travel quite a bit.
Stewart! How the heck do you forget your swimming suit when you're leaving for FLORIDA! Those all-nighters are for college kids, not old ladies approaching the big 3-0!
ReplyDeleteGlad you finally updated your blog (I should try that sometime, huh!?)
I'm a Lead Transportation Security Officer. Basically that's a fancy title for the airport security workers that check you and your luggage before you fly. Unlike most TSA employees who stay in one location, I volunteered to do this job while traveling around the US so I live in St. Paul but I'm not there much.
ReplyDeleteBurman, you're right. I'm too old for this all-nighter crap. 30 is just around the corner. I blame the swimsuit incident on memory loss due to old age.
