It's very frustrating because I've already missed my dad's surgery, Rita's birthday party, and the bike race. Even if I return to MSP on Monday, I'll probably still miss Jeff's brief return to MN. I've accepted all that with the one last big event being my sister having her baby. Any updates on this topic, Jess? If you could only guarantee that you'd wait til the end of the week, I'd whole heartedly hope to stay until we had a chance to do some actual work. It seems like such a waste to do all this traveling (6 airports in 6 days) and miss so much while doing so little to help the hurricane victims.
That choice is several levels above my pay band so all I can do is wait and see what they decide. I'll try to send out another text or email when I find out what's happening on Monday if I have time.

Your eyes aren't failing you, Tracy. That's two posts in one day.
ReplyDeleteHope you are still okay Tracie. No baby yet, but I can't make any gurantees - hope you make it back in time. I still don't understand exactly what TSA employees are supposed to do to provide "huricane relief" in TX. Is the government confusing TSA and FEMA? Dad said you'll probably end up being recruited by the National Guard while you're down there, as in, "here's your rifle, start shooting looters". The sad part is, I'm not entirely sure you'd refuse. Anyway, we love and miss you.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Jess
Stewart...I'm shocked! I thought I was dreaming! Two posts in one day? Several within the span of a few weeks?
ReplyDeleteWhat is this world coming to?
I hope you make it home quickly and that you arrive back into town before Baby Boy arrives!
Tracy
I don't plan on joining the National Guard, but FEMA has come up before. Don't worry though. I'm not changing careers this week. The NDF's main purpose in Texas is to relieve TSA employees who live in Texas of their duties while they try to put their personal lives back together post Hurricane Ike. We came early so they could prepare their homes and evacuate if necessary.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are practically in Mexico - are you at least practicing some espanol??? Rita
ReplyDeleteMemorandum
ReplyDeletePlease be informed that Senator McCain would prefer if you join FEMA at a later date. At the present, your services are much better put to use with TSA.
Sincerely,
Betty
