Grandpa Charlie passed on this picture of Jess and Joey. (See more details under "It's a Boy.") I spoke with Jess last Monday. It sounds like everyone's healthy, short on sleep, and trying to adjust to some sort of routine.
I asked my supervisor if he had any idea of what I could except after this deployment. He said it all depends on where/if they need help, but there is about an 85% chance that I'll go back to Minnesota for 2 to 6 weeks after Vegas. I guess September typically is a slow month. So I'm hoping to come home and see everyone, especially my new nephew. There is still a chance that I'll go straight from Vegas to another deployment. I probably won't know until the end of August. Keep in touch! I want to know what's going on in Minnesota too.

Tracie-I don't know how to do a slide show, but I could probably figure it out if you gave me a little time (and a few reminder when I forget!) I don't know why your pictures are ni TIF instead of .jpeg. Try emailing me a picture and I'll see what I can do. Where do you plan on hosting your pictures? That might be a way to help you get started.
ReplyDeleteTracie, it appears you figured out how to change the .tif files to .jpg. I don't know if you picked up my voicemail or not, but I simply said that your picture editing software that came with your computer would be able to "save as" to another file type. I think my last Gateway had Adobe Photoshop Limited Edition, which you may have also. It doesn't matter; they all have the ability to do this. You should be able to change the image size also, if you want to make it a little smaller for uploading and downloading purposes. The photos you put on your blog are fine. When I click on the thumbnail, I get a nice .jpg I can download if I want.
ReplyDeleteChris and I just returned from Lee Valley. You should have been there. It got down into the 40's at night and was about 75 in the day. Perfect for sightseeing or work. I mostly worked with Jim Roebke on replacing windows in the lodge with new ones or in one case, a sliding door. Then we had to redo the siding. It looked like we had ripped the walls off on the west side for awhile, but we got it back together...not enough time to do the finishing, however. I still got out to see the Wildlife Loop (160+ deer, 60+ wild turkeys, and 17 burros, plus 1 bison), the Rushmore lighting ceremony and the Crazy Horse lighting ceremony. Chris said it was his best visit to the Black Hills ever.
We stopped to see Jeff in Sioux Falls on the way back. He leased a new car, a Honda Civic. Very nice. And we also had supper. Unfortunately, we didn't get back until almost 2 am this morning.
It will be great to see you back in Minnesota if that's what happens. It sounds like we will just have to wait and see.
Love, Dad
